AKA yes, we really have let yet another 5 months go by without blogging.
So, this is the point at which I usually offer up the same tired excuse that it’s been a super-busy year and I’ve just not had the time, but I can’t really do so on this occasion. It’s true that we’ve had lots of work this year, even if it has been a little quieter than the previous few, what with the pandemic and everything.
But no, our silence has not been for lack of time, it’s more just that I’ve been struggling to find something to say. Or perhaps more specifically, of finding an upbeat way of saying it. Because let’s be honest, 2020 has been quite seriously pants. Ok, so 2016 was so miserable that I baptised it the Cursed Year and 2019 was so dire that I celebrated its demise in another blog post – but this is a whole new league.
A global pandemic and unprecedented economic collapse were just not high up on the list of things I thought this new decade had in store for us. And yet, here we are. And as we go into winter facing up to a second wave, it’s fair to say things aren’t about to get better any time soon.
Which is why feeling a little optimisim is important, even if it is hard. As horrific as this pandemic is, there’s something heartening about the way that humanity is, for the first time ever, united with a common goal and a common enemy. And we will make it through this. We may even learn to live a little more harmoniously with one another – and with the planet – as a result.
And until then, we’ll be here making websites for you, our dear clients. Now, here’s a little round-up of some of what we’ve been up to since our last post. Stay safe.
What We’ve Been Up To…
Spas, Saunas and Hot Tubs!
Established in 2005, Simply Spas sell hot tubs, swim spas and saunas. The company and its showroom are based in Verchaix in the French Alps, but they deliver their spas across all of France. About six years ago, Port 80 created them a WordPress website, which was beginning to look in need of a refresh. So it was with pleasure that we revisited the website earlier this year and created the new, more user-friendly and (dare we say it) more handsome website that you now see before you!
Developing Super Powers!
The Super Power Agency is a registered charity working with Scotland’s most disadvantaged and under-resourced young people. Through creative writing workshops and mentoring, they aim to make learning fun. We created them a WordPress website with a bold, fun and quirky design that shows off their work and the results it produces.
A Spot of Gardening
B.J.Wooding Contractors offer landscaping and fencing services across the south east of the UK. The company is currently expanding and wanted to make better use of their website to showcase examples of their work.
They contacted Port 80 at the start of the year to ask us to redesign it. Their new site features an attractive modern design and case studies of their work. We just wish they were based a little closer as our own garden here in Mazeroux is looking in sore need of their skills!
