The Many Different Uses of a Website

The first websites only really had one purpose: they acted as nothing more than a company’s online brochure. But as the technology progressed over the years, a whole new world of possibilities began to open up. Here are just a few examples the kinds of things you can do with a website these days…

Sell your goods and services online…

Database sites can be used to manage your stock, your client list, your orders and your transactions. ARBC is a family-run business that sells DIY garden bench restoration kits.

Since the company had us redesign their site to turn it into a full online shop, they have experienced a significant and sustained increase in sales.

Websites that can speak to other websites…

Websites can integrate with other systems to retrieve and supply data. Real estate agents’ websites often get their data of properties for sale from a third party system. Vineyards-Bordeaux and Allez Français are two sites we made that do this. Many sites we build use Google Maps data to show locations and provide directions, such as Périgord Beers and HAHS.

Using web-based tools to save you time and money…

Websites can also be used to manage business processes. A website is basically a form of software that can be tailored to the specific needs of a business.

We built such a site, Task tracker, for a consultancy firm in London called Carbon Plan. The tool has grown along with the business, and is now used for employee time-keeping, project management, report generation, financial tracking, and task scheduling.

So there you have it – websites are so much more than mere brochures these days. If you think you or your business could benefit from web-based software to run better, get in touch and see how we can help!
